Thiess Rail was engaged by the Victorian Department of Transport to build the new Rail Stabling Yards at Newport in the Western Suburbs. A component of the project was the supply and fit out of a new Railway Communications Hut, and ICS were nominated as a preferred supplier in the SKM Technical Specification Document.
Features
- Concrete panels and penetrations were engineered to prevent water ingress, and the shelter was sealed and painted to ensure complete weather proof protection.
- The internal fit out included the installation of cable support systems, earthing, general light and power, alarm system and DC power cabling.
- A custom designed ‘ICS Switch Board’, was installed with integrated Programmed Logic Control (PLC) for environmental management that interfaced with the VicTrack communications monitoring systems.
Outcome
The Communications Hut was supplied on time within the Thiess timetable preventing delays to the project flow and meeting with Thiess-VicTrack KPI’s.
